What Foam Do I Need?
Not sure which grade to pick? Our simple guide helps you choose the right foam density and firmness for your project.
Foam Grades Explained
Medium Density (36kg/m³)
Firmness: Medium
A softer foam ideal for areas where you lean against rather than sit directly. Perfect for back cushions and decorative seating where firm support isn't critical.
Firm High Density (40kg/m³)
MOST POPULARFirmness: Firm
Our most popular grade. Provides excellent support for everyday seating. Ideal for sofa seat cushions, dining chairs, and bench seats that get regular daily use.
Extra Firm (50kg/m³)
Firmness: Extra Firm
The firmest option for areas with heavy or constant use. Ideal for commercial seating, medical cushions, and seats where maximum support is needed.
Memory Foam (50kg/m³)
Firmness: Medium (moulding)
Conforms to body shape for pressure relief and comfort. Excellent as a mattress topper or combined with a firm foam base for seats where comfort is the priority.
Reflex Foam (40kg/m³)
Firmness: Supportive
A resilient foam that bounces back quickly. Often used as a mattress core or combined with memory foam on top. Good balance of support and comfort.
Recommendations by Use
Sofa Cushions
Recommended: Firm High Density (40kg/m³)
Add dacron wrap for a plumper look. Add stockinette so it slides easily back into covers.
Window Seats & Benches
Recommended: Firm High Density (40kg/m³)
Measure precisely — we can cut angled or clipped shapes for bay windows.
Mattresses & Toppers
Recommended: Memory Foam or Reflex
Layer memory foam on reflex foam for the best comfort-to-support ratio.
Caravans & Boats
Recommended: Firm High Density (40kg/m³)

About Extras
Dacron Wrap
A polyester wadding wrapped around the foam. It softens sharp edges, adds loft and roundness, and gives cushions a plump, inviting look. Highly recommended for sofa cushions.
Stockinette
A stretchable fabric sleeve pulled over the foam. It lets cushion covers slide on smoothly, protects the foam from friction, and gives a neater, more professional finish.
